Streetcar named desire.....

Yup! I watched the 1951 movie version of Tennessee William's play some time back and turns out to be one of my favourite behind "Lawerence of arabia".This film perhaps features the greatest ensemble acting ever.Naturally, it was the only movie which came close to winning all the 4 acting oscars. But it lost out coz Brando (of all people!)couldnt convert his nomination into the statue.Anyways Vivien Leigh(as the central character Blanch Dubois) and Marlon Brando (as StanlyKowalski) completly overshadows the other two....

What was fascinating for me personally was how my opinion of the characters swong from one end to the other.Stanley(Brando) started out as this Alpha male and a lovable brute but in the end turns out to be someone whom you would never ever want to know even remotely in your real life .Blance Dubois was initially irritating and frivolous but ends up earning the audience sympathy. I guess my version of stella(Hunter) would depend on whether im reading the play or watching the movie(coz they both hav a diffrent ending).I lov the movie's ending though many would contradict. What was even more fascinating was how the movie inspite of its typical american setting is pretty universal in its theme. You would hav come across a kowalski ,a mitch(Malden),a stella or a Dubois. You might even be one of them. For all those who completly love it for everything it was i say check out "On the waterfront"Brando's and Kazen's towerhouse.Im guessing that you would hav check that out...

While Brando to the older generation would mean an incredibley Great looking actor ,(To me the best looking human male ever!!)to the younger generation he would be just an old fat actor. But every one agrees on the fact that he was one of the greatest.!!
Afterall you cannot just watch the man and not be affected by it.!! ciao! tc! Salaam!
